Welcome To LWSRA

Lincolnway Special Recreation Association (LWSRA), an agency that provides adaptive and special recreation for individuals with disabilities, has been providing these services since 1976 through a cooperative agreement with Frankfort, Manhattan, Mokena, New Lenox, and Peotone park districts. LWSRA is an integral part of the overall recreation services of each of our partners.

LWSRA offers a wide variety of quality programs, including participation in Special Olympics Illinois, each season to residents of all ages and all abilities. Social programs, programs for children, trips, special events, athletic programs, and an adult day program, are some of the many choices provided in our brochure which is published three times a year.

LWSRA relies on a variety of sources to provide funds needed to support our services. The partner park districts provide the largest share of the support to ensure the stability and success of the cooperative. Fund raising and donations or sought to help support the many programs. Modest registration fees are charged for programs and events, similar to those charged by our partners and other SRAs. In an extended effort to keep programs affordable, LWSRA has a scholarship program for those who are otherwise unable to participate because of financial hardship. This program is solely funded by donations.

LWSRA has an award-winning staff of 45 part-time and full-time employees, committed to providing quality services through educational advancement, training and certification. LWSRA is also number one in safety, earning accreditation with the Park District Risk Management Agency (PDRMA).

Check out our website, or call or e-mail to request a brochure, and see for yourself all the great things LWSRA has to offer.
